Oslo Mile  (9/06/2011) - Preview

Olympic champion, Asbel Kiprop, Silas Kiplagat and the fastest miler for the season, Nixon Chepseba will run in the Dream Mile’ at Oslo’s leg of the Diamond League today. Asbel Kiprop is the defending champion for the race and it will not be going to be an easy victory judging from the field of very fast milers.

Nixon Chepseba has won two Samsung Diamond League meets so far this season. The world’s fastest 1500m runners from last season Kiplagat (3:29.27 PB) and Morocco’s Amine Laalou (3:29.53) are capable of sub- 3min 50sec. As for Laalou he ran the fastest leg in the Mile leg and made Morocco a surprise victor for the team race. Another Kenyan, William Biwott Tanui returns to the track where two years ago he established a new World Junior Mile record of 3:49.29. Also, another running in the event is Augustine Choge, has a lifetime best of 3:50.14 for the mile but at 1500m has posted a best time of under 3:30 and is keen for a new personal best at the mile distance.
