Picture 1 - Halima Hachlaf from Morocco winning the 800m women race

Morocco's 22-year old Halima Hachlaf has beaten the reigning world champion Caster Semenya in the women's 800m at the Bislett Games yesterday. She produced a sprint finish to pip Semenya and second-placed Russian Mariya Savinova (1min 58.44sec) in a world lead time of 1min 58.27sec. Former world champion and Olympic silver medallist Janeth Jepkosgei of Kenya came in fourth, while Britain's Jenny Meadows, who won world championship bronze behind Semenya and Jepkosgei in 2009, in fifth.

Semenya commented that she is happy with the result and she told that she is slowly coming back to her personal best time of 1min 55.45. Even though she feels that she is not there yet, over time she feels that she is progressing towards it. This can be seen from the improvement in her recent performances.
