Rotterdam Marathon 2013 - Tilahun Regassa of Ethiopia Wins

Tilahun Regassa of Ethiopia won the 33rd edition of the ABN AMRO Marathon in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on Sunday, April 14th, 2013.

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands
14/ 04/2013  —  Tilahun Regassa of  Ethiopia and fellow countryman Getu Feleke finished 1-2 at the Rotterdam Marathon on Sunday

This race was the second marathon race for winner Tilahun Regassa, finishing in 2 hours, 5 minutes and 38 seconds. That was 11 seconds slower than his personal best set in Chicago last year.

Ethiopian Tilahun Regassa finished with a final time of 2:05:38. Regassa seemed on pace to break the course record halfway through but struggled in the final km's to keep record pace. This is the second consecutive year that Ethiopia has won.

Getu Feleke did a time of 2:06.45 while Sammy Kitwara of Kenya was third in 2:07.22. 
 
In the women's race, Kenyan Jemima Jelagat was a clear favourite at the start of the race, and lead for the majority of it. Jelagat finished with a personal best time of 2:23:27, beating out second-place Ethiopian Abebech Afework.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
