Louis Christian - From 12min 2.4km timing has brought his timing for 2.5km to 10min 12sec, after a 350m swim in 1st Meta Sprint Age Group Championships.

Young Champions Programme's athlete Louis is a quiet boy who currently is learning to enjoy running, swimming and biking. He is doing triathlon and his interest in running is on the rise and he wants to run faster more than ever over time.

As he is young, using Tudor Bompa's concept of training, what I am doing to Louis now is to make him motivated in running a lot so that when the tough training comes, later on, he is able to use his high level of motivation to continue tougher training. Without a high level of motivation developed, an avid runner may give up when intense is done when one is older. I have already heard of a number of young athletes losing interest as the coach is pushed by the parents or school on the performance.

When once the young athlete loses interest, there is a very high chance that they will not come back to the sports.

Having said that, I would like to present an interview that I had with Louis on his love for running and triathlon.

An Interview With Louis

What was the distance of the race?
350m Swim and 2.5km run.

What was your time and position of the race?
I did 6min 14sec for the Swim and 10min 12sec for the run. I came 15 in the Youth 14-15-year-old.

How was the organisation of the race?
The organization was quite good.

Did you enjoy running in the race?
Yes, I did, because I still had energy for 2.5km run.

Can you share with us on the route that you ran?
Well, I swam in Palawan beach in open water and run along the beach road.

What is your next target in future?
Hopefully, my next target for swimming will be 5'14 and for running 9'12 next year.

And also the triathlon in a month time in Changi coast.
