An Interview With Tarandeep Kaur

What is the name of the race?
Race name was medio maraton asics de Madrid

Can you give me the website link for this race?
The Website link is  http://www.mediomaratonmadrid.es/

How was the weather on the race day?
Weather that day was minus one degree at the start and during the race, it went up to 5-6 degrees. Very dry air and I was coughing a lot after the race. Was shivering at the start because the wind in Madrid is quite strong as well.

Can you give us your exact time, especially the net time?
The exact time of my gun time was 1hr 43min and 2 seconds and my net time was 1hr 42min and 36sec. It was very crowded and I couldn't start at the front.

Can you share with us your race splits?

Splits: first 10k was 48.52 and second 10km was 48.26, average pace was 4min 53sec per km.

How was the organisation of the race as a whole?
Race description: great crowd support. When I passed by the fire station, all the firefighters were out in their uniform cheering and the fire engine was out with its siren really loud. There were long sections of the street packed with supporters and everyone was really encouraging. The route was accurate and they gave water in open bottles so a lot easier to drink.

How was the terrain of the route during the race?
As for the terrain, the route was very very hilly. I decided to take advantage of the downhills and just go hard on then because there were many steep uphills throughout the route. However, at 18km, I completely lost all my energy and from then it was uphill to the finish. So I need to get used to that.

What is your next goal?
My next goal: I am looking for a marathon to run soon. I have been seeing a physiotherapist for my injury and fingers crossed everything is ok. According to my coach, he has discussed with me to do a sub- 3hr 50min for the race. It is a bonus if I can do between 3hr 40min to 3hr 45min.
