Getting there first: Asli Cakir Alptekin of Turkey crosses the line to win gold ahead of silver medalist Gamze Bulut

I watched the race and found that Jamal, from Bahrain who came in 3rd position, was running in 1st lane and was running on the outside of the 1st lane. Over time, she was playing a waiting game in order to kick from the last 150m, according to my personal perception. It was an excellent plan but this did not fall through as Asli Cakir Alptekin responded at the last 25o to 300m mark by giving a surprise surge. Alptekin was able to sustain the surge and was able to fend off fellow compatriot by the name of Bulut and Bahrain runner and one of the favourites by the name of Jamal. The time taken was 4min 10sec.

In the medals: Third placed Maryam Yusuf Jamal of Bahrain celebrates with winner Asli Cakir Alptekin and second Gamze Bulut both of Turkey
