Kirui targeting fast time in Amsterdam

Peter Kirui winning the New York City Half Marathon

Peter Kirui, 24,  will be running in the Netherlands for the TCS Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday, 21 October, but it won't be as a pacesetter. Kirui has  helped Patrick Makau to break the World record (2:03:38) in Berlin last year. He, to date, has a personal best time of 2:06:31, where he finished 6th in Frankfurt marathon. In the year 2010, Peter Kirui paced Samuel Wanjiru, the now-deceased Olympic champion, in Chicago to a 2:06:24. This year, the Marathon runner won the New York Half Marathon in a new personal best of 59:39.

The event organiser expects about 12,000 participants to take part in the Marathon, a gradual increase compared to previous years.
