Leonard Kirwa Konsencha sets new World Youth 800m best.

Kenyan male runner Kosencha and female runner Kipyegon broke the World Youth record for men 800m and 1500m for women, respectively - Lille 2011


 Leonard Kirwa Kosencha sets a new World Youth 800m best
Lille, France - Leonard Kirwa Kosencha ran the fastest ever time ever run by a youth by doing 1min 44.08sec at the World Youth Championships in Lille, France.

Kosencha, and current senior World record holder David Rudisha, are from the same place in Kenya, belonging to the Masai tribe. Konsencha did the first 200m in 24.60sec, before doing 50.85sec at the 400m point. He challenged  Mohammad Aman and Timothy Kitum, and who got 2nd and 3rd position, respectively, and became the eventual winner of the 800m race.

Aman of Ethiopia did  1min:44.68sec with the winner's teammate Kitum doing likewise just 1min 44.98sec.

Kosencha confirmed that he got the gold even though he is nursing an injury now.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
