In the recent Sunday race in Bedok Reservoir, there were two people who ran the race, Marcel and Marissa. The day was bright and sunny. Marcel is running the race the first time as a secondary 4 student. His sister ran last year. However, not only coming in tenth position in the women open, Marissa also bettered her time by nearly a minute and her timing stood at 19min 11sec. As a young student, I decided to interview her on last Sunday's improved performance.

From young, I have noticed her in making improvement in her timing and I thought it would good for people to get motivated from her performance recently.

Picture 1 - Marissa Sng 16 years of age came in 10th in Women Open Inter-Con race.

How was your timing in the past, last year?
Last year my timing was 20.06.

How did you fair for this race?

I came in the top 10 with a time of 19min 11sec. Last year, I was 6th but the timing was much slower.

How did you train for this race?
I trained every day for it. I did my own runs when there wasn't school training.

How was the weather before, during and after the race?
The weather before the race was really hot but during the race, it wasn't at all. After the race, it was sunny and windy.

How did your brother fair?

My brother did a time of 17.58. His position is 30plus for men open.

When did your brother take up running?
My brother took up running during the start of the June holidays last year.

Are you happy with your timing?
I am happy as I didn't expect to do this kind of time because I did not do any long runs in preparation for the race.

What is your next goal?
My next goal is to become a champion in the future.
