Lashmanova is the new 10000m Walk Junior World Record Holder.

Thursday 21/07/2011

Lashmanova, despite walking in an environmental temperature of 30 degrees, she went around 25 laps of the track and set a new 10000m walk junior world record time of 42:59.48, nearly 12 seconds off the World junior record that had belonged to another Russian, Vera Sokolova (2005).

She took the initiative to work on her own from 4000 metres, after pushing hard until that distance. She was at least 2min ahead of fellow compatriot Svetlana Vasileva, who did her best to cling on to her in the early part of the race.

The delighted Lashmanova commented that she could not believe the record she had broken, considering the unfavourable weather conditions.

My prediction is that this time may get faster if the weather had been cooler and this girl has great potential to get faster in the future.
