Kenyan Daegu, Korea, World Championships 2011 Provisional Team

Picture 1 - Kiplagat tops the toughest race - 1500m men race

In the men’s 1500m final, Commonwealth champion, Silas Kiplagat was the victor with a fast blistering time of 3:31.39. He will go to Monaco to compete and will then train for the World Championships 2011 which will be held at Daegu. Last year, he has done a time of 3:29.27sec in Delhi in Club Games.

At the start of the race, Augustine Choge leads the early part until Chepseba overtook the group. At the last 400m, Kiprop made the first push for the lead after sometime hearing the bell. However, it was Kiplagat, who, at the last 300, made a daring dash and edged the rest of them. Kiplagat just kept his acceleration and kept away from the rest of them, which made Kiprop focus on Chepseba, Daniel Komen and Collins Cheboi instead. At the last 50metres, it was more or less confirmed that Silas Kiplagat was the winner and Kiprop took second with a time of 3:32.26. Kipchirchir did 3:32.47 and was third. Cheboi was fourth with a time of 3:33.94 and Chepseba was fifth with a time of 3:33.96. However, the officials have given Chepseba the wild card chance to run in the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
