My Experience with AIMS races
I remember in the past where I did 1hr 07min in Johore Half - marathon. I was waiting for a 1hr 08min, watching very carefully, before going all out for the last few hundred metres. N. Ganesan was also there in the race and a couple of Singapore athletes were there. As soon as I was hitting 1hr 05min, I realised that we were about to finish. I had a lot of energy left for the last kick which I was not able to elicit.

I was very disappointed with the organisers as even though I came in second, both Ganesan and I felt that the distance was short. This could give me the wrong prediction for my future marathon races. It is from her that I realised that if ever I want to run a race I decided to only run races which are AIMS certified. Usually, AIMS certified courses are precise in the distance marking. It was a lesson that I learnt from running. Thanks to Johor Half-marathon. From then on, I was able to predict my marathon timing better.  Thanks to AIMS.

Who is The Winner For The Year 2010
Let us see who is the AIMS athlete of the Year winner for 2010. This was held in Gothenburg, Sweden. Kenya's Patrick Makau's has been named the AIMS/ASICS World Athlete of the Year, one of the most prestigious award in world road running. This is the first time Makau has won the award. A Golden Shoe award was presented by the Gothenburg Race Director Bo EdsIberger. It was given shortly before the Gothenburg half-marathon race.

Picture 2 - 2hr 04min 48sec, the fourth-fastest time ever clocked by Makau

In 2010, he won the City-Pier-City Half Marathon in The Hague with a credible time of 59:52. He did 2:04:48 to win the Rotterdam Marathon, becoming the fourth-fastest runner in a marathon.  Later on, in the Berlin Marathon, he clocked 2:05:08 to win his first World Marathon Major. Hence, Makau succeeds his countryman the late great Sammy Wanjiru, who was the 2008 winner earlier.

In the past, the most impressive was Haile who won the AIMS award in 2006, 2007 and 2009. Haile won it thrice. This is really a very remarkable feat by Haile Gebrselassie indeed.
