Anirban Banerjee (17-year-old male) - Not just one of the top student in Global Indian School but he is also a pride of Flexifitness as well.

Anirban's mother called me around 2 years ago and she told me that she wanted me to assist her son in running. At first, I worked with him for nearly a year. Anirban was about 15 years of age at that time. There was progress in his fitness tests like Standing Broad Jump, Pull-Up and Sit-Ups. However, I saw that his progress in running was very gradual but slow. He was training once or twice per week. I did a running test with him for 2.4km in the past.

From a time of 20min 11sec, after some months, he was doing a time between 15 and 16min for 2.4km. He was going up and down in this range. His running technique improved a lot over a period of time. He was studying very hard though.

The joy came when he finished his exams, about 6 weeks back. He had the next 5 weeks to train. Of the 6 days per week training, he trained with us for two days and the rest of the days, he did his own training with discipline and in a consistent manner.

After a series of 1500m time trials for 3 weeks, with sheer determination, he brought the 2.4km time down below sub-14min last week. He did a time of 13min 41sec. It was a very good time as he has never done this kind of timing before.

Last week, on 2nd of August, he ran a time trial on the track and did a wonderful time of 12min 38sec.

He did a 1min 03sec improvement in just a week's time. It was an amazing feat indeed. I needed another 1 month to work with him to do a 10min flat but he had to go overseas for his further studies.

It was only when he did 12min 38sec that I felt that I have done my job and felt very happy about the achievement and in Napfa Test this time would fetch a sliver award, as he qualifies for it.

The best part came when in last Friday's Tabla Paper he was named as one of the handful top students who studied in Global Indian School, in the International Baccalaureate programme.

As I know Anirban, he has been a very good attitude student in our programme and was a humble personality person to our knowledge and I feel great to work with him and wish him all the best to his further studies in the USA. All the best, Anirban!

Note: Anirban would like to thank Marcel Sng for supporting and encouraging the former to do well in running.
