encourage women to take up running
SINGAPORE 

The Reebok Shape Run 5km and 10km races were run 
early in the morning at 7.10am today. Associate Professor 
Fatimah Lateef, MP for Marine Parade GRC was there to 
grace the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour. It was estimated 
that around 8000 women participated in this event. 

18-year-old Eunice Muchiri who ran and won the 10km race 
in 34min 18sec while in the 5km race  Jenny Lundgren, 33,  
won the race by clocking 18min 02sec.  Eunice and won $1000
worth of cash and $5000 worth of products and services. Eunice told the reporters that she was happy to have won the race. Jenny won the same prize but she got $500 worth for cash, instead. 

In the Corporate category, the team from Barclays 
Race to Win – comprising April Mckenna, Amy Mignosi 
and Syndie Blake – scored the top prize of $1,000 cash 
as well as products and services valued at $3,000.

The 5km course was along Mountbatten Road, Geylang 
Road, Kampong Bugis and Crawford Street. As for the 10km 
challenge, the route consisted the 5km route plus F1 Pit 
Building, Singapore Flyer and Marina Promenade Park. The finish point for the two races were at the Nicoll Highway.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
