A Day at the Expo - For the Gold Coast Marathon 2011

A day before the race, we saw the Southern Cross University 10km race as part of the Gold Coast marathon organisation for those not running the marathon, today, Saturday. They were running on the tarmac road parallel to the Gold Coast Beach. We were watching this from our Silvershore Apartment, at Brighton Street.

These few days, Ashley has been complaining about his pain in the thigh. He told me that whenever he kept stretching on that area, the area becomes a bit tenser. I told him to do his best and go for it. If the pain comes then some strategies should be used. The first choice is to do the 2hr 45 and below. Better still, during the race, if he feels well, it will be good to go for a 2hr 34min. If he feels very well, it is good to go for a sub-2hr 30min if everything goes ideally.

Today, we went down to collect the race pack. I told Ashley to get the number tag first and then buy whatever is necessary that is important for the race or to buy things for friends. We took a photo of the Gold Coast Convention and Expo before entering to collect the race pack.

We were greeted by very friendly officials there at the Convention. The officials got Ashley's number tag in 3 minutes and they wished him well. Everything was settled and we just had to get the chip confirmed by scanning the running chip.

After this, we were just moving around and were greeted by people attending to the booth.  We found the Australian, as a whole, very kind and friendly.

For those at the booth, we gave them the opportunity to explain about their product. Ashley bought the Asics products.

All of a sudden, to our surprise, we saw the Standard Chartered Marathon booth. We wanted to talk to the booth person but could not find anyone. 30mins later we come back but we could not find any. Ashley and I decided to go since we could not find Singapore officials whom we can converse with. We believe that they may be coming back later or they may have been there since the start of the Gold Coast Marathon Expo.

There were some products that I saw which were interesting. However, we spent our time of Asics shop to buy some products because of the need to purchase the products.

Finally, we went back to relax at our apartment since we have found out from the information counter on the bus transport to the start point. This is the first time, I am in Australia and I will be watching the race.
