Tanui 4th fastest youth all-time in 2000m Steeplechase 

Lille, France 2011 - Day 3

Tiny 15-year-old Kenyan Norah Jeruto Tanui was the favourite in the 2000m Steeplechase race and she won gold for the race.  underlined why she is favourite for the gold medal when the third day of the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships got underway in Lille.

Her first 1km time was 3:01.95, scheduled to break the World Youth Best Performance of 6:11.83, which Ethiopia's Korahubsh Itaa attained 2 years ago in the earlier championships at Bressanone.
The rest of them, Motu Megersa of Ethiopia (6:30.81), Morocco's Fadwa Sidi Madane (6:34.10), Belen Casetta of Argentina (6:35.40) and Ugandan Nancy Cheptegei (6:38.57) did the mentioned time with fast times as well. Tanui's teammate Lilian Jepkorir Chemweno did a personal best time of 6:31.66.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
