Programme:

5.15am*        Flag-off for 21km Army Half Marathon

7.00am*        Flag-off for Men's 10km Race

7.45am*        Flag-off for Women's 10km Race

8.30am*        Flag-off for 5km Fun Run

9.00am*        Flag-off for Father & Child Challenge



The event is jointly organised by SAFRA and The Army. The event comprises both the competitive 21-km half-marathon and 10-km routes. The main event of the race is the Half-marathon. The social runners can participate in the non-competitive 5 km Fun Run as well.

The objective and aim of the event is to promote a healthy lifestyle among Singaporeans and to others and reinforce SAFRA and the SAF’s emphasis on physical fitness for life. Over the years, there is an increase in participation from 15,000 in 1992 to about 70,000 in 2010.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
