Haile Gebrselassie - Winning Ways are back

Haile Gebrselassie returned to winning ways with a convincing victory in the BUPA Great Birmingham Half-marathon The 38-year-old did 1hr 1min 29sec. The 38-year-old Ethiopian dropped off last month's BMW Berlin Marathon due to illness. Qatar's Essa came in second in 1hr 2mins 28secs.


Morocco's Abderrahime Bouramdane was third in 1:03:57. Gebrselassie told reporters: 'It was a fantastic race for me except for the wind and it was really hard between 11 and 12 miles.




Haile mentioned that he is trying to qualify for the London Olympics in 2012.

He told reporters,'I am totally focused on getting the qualifier'

The women's race was dominated by British athletes, and won by Gemma Steel in 1:12:21, ahead of Louise Damen (1:13:51) and Lucy MacAlister (1:15:30).

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
