Kasi Nadarajan - Aiming for a short-term marathon time of sub-3hr  30min and then go for a sub-3hrs as soon as possible

He came to Flexifitness with only one thing in mind - to be fit and be able to do a good personal best time for the 2.4km run. He also wanted to just improve his timing for the marathon. Recently, Kasi decided to run in the Zoo Run 12km as a test of fitness and to do a sub- 50min for the 12km run. Instead, he did 48min 40sec. This was a big bonus for him. His previous best was done when he was 16 where he ran in a time of 41min 20sec for 10km. He recounted his Zoo Run to me when I interviewed him.

An Interview With Kasi Nadarajan

How was the race?
It was good pacing. I was going 4min per kilometres. However, what went wrong was actually when we ran the 2nd round of the Zoo Run. We found that there was traffic as we runners were caught with the slower running people.

I was happy that I was leading the first part of the race until about 5 foreigners overtook me.   Earlier during the race, I had no one to follow in the trail. I did ask for directions and the martials gave me unclear directions. The ending was also not very clear. I hope that the martials are more friendly and direct us properly in the future. I was misled once in the race. At the finish, I had no time to sprint.

How was the route?

Too many turning during the race. It will be good if we have fewer turns.

How was the organisation of the Zoo Run 2013?
As for the organisation of the race, I would say that it was organised well before the race start, in terms of where to go and how to go etc. There was enough water points as well. However, during the run, the race disappointed me a lot.

Are you happy with the time?
I am very happy with the time.

Why?

It was my first race this year.

What is your personal best time for 10km?
10km done in 41min 40sec done at the age of 16 in Standard Chartered Marathon 2008.

How many marathons have you run in the past?
About 3 Marathons, the fastest that I have ever done was 3hr 53min 59sec in 2010 and it was my 1st Stanchart marathon race.

What your future goal?

To do a sub- 3 hr 30min in the short-term. In the long run, I would like to become top 3 in Singapore.
