Emma Oh - Comes in 4th in School Cross-Country Race.

Picture 01 - Emma Oh, sitting right in front at the right-hand corner of the group.

Emma Oh first joined us in the year 2011, July. In the past, she was improving in fitness and running overtime. However, an achilles tendon injury had sidelined her as she was not able to run or do much. Nevertheless, she continued with Flexifitness Young Champions Programme and did not give up in any training session.

Lately, even though, her injury had reduced, she still carrying the injury. She ran in the school cross-country and came in 4th position in it. By doing an alternative method to training, she was able to make her way to aim for excellence in sports and studies.

Even though Emma was injured for nearly 8 months, her perseverance in sports did not stop her in any way. She at least did swimming or walking training to continue in sports. In short, she has the self-discipline to at least something do something in training even when injured.

As such, as a firm believer of Flexifitness Young Champions Programme, I deemed it prudent to listen to this quiet achiever who is hoping to be a very good runner in the long run, in time to come and to do a short write up as well.

An Interview With Emma

What school are you from?
I am from Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School

When did you have your Annual School's Cross-Country Race?
It was on 14th Mar

What was the time it was held?

 8am

What category did you run in?

Sec 1 girl's race

What was your position and timing?

My position was 4th for the sec 1 race.

What was your Wings Race Cross - Country Race 2013 time?
About 21min.

What was the distance of your school race?
It was 4.3km, one whole run around the reservoir.

Where did you run?

Bedok reservoir

Were you happy with the race at Bedok Reservoir?
Happy. During the race, I was actually right at the back of the pack. However, I did not panic in any way. Gradually, I moved up and overtook a number of them in the race and finally end up 4th in the race in the end.

Was there any way you could have improved in this race?
I was nursing an injury and that had affected the race. Without injury, I could have run faster. Anyway, I can feel that the injury is not as severe as in the past. It has improved over time.

What injury are you having right now?

Achilles Tendon injury.

Was the route very long?

Quite. However, I actually prefer longer distance races which are actually my strength, I believe. The longer the distance, the bigger an advantage I have over many.

How did your dad and mother feel this?

They were proud of this. My Dad told me to come in at least the top 10. Since I came in 4th, he was very surprised by my performance, which he believed that it was beyond his expectation, given the fact that I am injured currently.
