Standard Chartered Marathon 2013 - Some did personal best while others did not

Today, seventeen of our athletes took part in the 10km/half-marathon/marathon in Stanchart Marathon.

Other than that, a number of them, generally the people whom I met randomly, told me that they did not do their personal best. They are not from our Flexifitness group. Our group also had athletes who did not hit their planned target.

Some told me their sad stories during the race. I had to console them. Jensen Toh, our Flexifitness athlete did 3hr 23min. I felt that Jensen is faster than me for 8km and 1km time trials. It was a good current marathon personal best time for him. Tan Eng Howe did 1hr 54min for the half-marathon. Eng Howe was aiming to do a 1hr 50min. Hoang did 47min while Benjamin did 46min 27sec for the 10km. Samir Bhandari did 2hr 09min and it was his personal best time. Szerk did 4hr 06min for the marathon, after having a week of a hip injury. He was on the verge of not running the race at all. Ultimately, he ran the race and he did his personal best time.

To those who did not do well, I would like to encourage them to keep the faith. It would be good not to feel sad. My advice is to train for future races. I believe that one's personal best time will come over time.
