Jensen, 30, who is currently working as a consultant, a
dedicated and discipline athlete was able to clock in his personal best in the
Standard Chartered Marathon 2013.
In the past, he was doing a time of 34min for 8km when he
joined FlexiFitness about 5-6months back. After his Cebu 70.3 Half-Ironman race with a time of 4hr 59min, he suddenly got some injury at his foot area which hampered his speed sessions in training. Although this was going on, he was insistent on coming down for training without fail, unless something urgent comes up. This may be the mantra for his consistent improvement in his time trials.
Later on, he was able to bring down his time for 8km to 31min 03sec. However, for two months, he was working hard to clock in a sub-31min which did not work at first. With his consistent training and hard work, he was able to bring down his timing to 30min 33sec just two weeks before the marathon. This gave him the confidence that he will be able to clock in a good time for the marathon.

From my observation, I noticed that Jensen does not miss any
warm-up and cooling down sessions both before and after training. Whenever he
comes down for training, he is very focused on whatever he does. He does not
miss any training session and always does his best.
Coach Rameshon told me that Jensen will be able to do a sub-3hr
for a marathon in the near future.
What is the race that
you took part in?
Singapore Standard Chartered
Marathon in 2013.
What was your timing
and are you happy with it?
3:22:22. Mixed feelings because I
was actually aiming for 3:15. Nonetheless, this is my PB and I am happy with my
time.
What is your split
timing?
My 21km split was 1hr and 36s.
How was the race
route?
The route was generally flat and
well-organised. However, the final 4km was overcrowded due to the convergence
of 10km, 21km and 42km runners. Perhaps, the organisers could separate the
races for 10km/21km on Sat and 42km on Sun respectively.
5. How did you find
the weather?
The weather was nice and cool
6. How was the
support during the run?
The race support was good. The water
points were nicely spaced out and adequate.
7. Did you enjoy the
run?
I enjoyed most of the run except the
final 7km where I started to experience cramps and having to stop a few times
to stretch.
8. What is your next target?
I have not set
any target for now. SCM 2014 is definitely a consideration for me to better
my PB.
