At the Adidas Grand Prix on 11 June, the sixth stop on the Samsung Diamond League series, one of the interesting race to watch is the women’s 1500m which will be fielded with three of top runners from last season who are set to dominate the field. Kenyan Nancy Langat, the 2008 Olympic gold medallist and inaugural Diamond Race winner in the event, is coming back to defend her Adidas Grand Prix title.

Picture 2 - Ethiopian Gelete Burka is also a favourite to win the 1500m race

In the 1500m race, however, Russian Anna Alminova ran the fastest time in the world last year clocking 3min57.65sec. On the other hand, Ethiopians Gelete Burka and  Kalkidan Gezahegne were the World indoor champions in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

The field is going to be competitive with the inclusion of Jamaican Kenia Sinclair, currently the fastest 800m runner in the world so far in 2011. In addition, we have Anna Pierce, the four-time U.S. champion and Jenny Simpson, the 2010 USA Indoor Champion at 1500m and 3000m in the race.
