800m Race Report
The 1st Asian Grand Prix 2011 was over. The first inception of this event was from 2009 onwards. The next Grand Prix will be held in China in Kunshan on 26th May 2011.

In the middle distance race, Margarita Matsko, from Kazakhstan improved her time for the series in the 800m to 2:01.63 on the rain-hit day. From the year 2009, Margarita Matsko has been winning in this event many times.

800m Women's Report
It was only India’s Tintu Luka, who once stopped Matsko’s successful wins by winning in the final leg of Asian Grand Prix last year at Chennai, India. For this year she has decided to give a miss to this year’s series. Tintu represented Asia-Pacific team in the Continental Cup last year at Split, Croatia, where she was able to do a lifetime personal best time of 1min 59.17sec and ended number 5 among the World’s elite runners. Tintu came in 3rd at the Asian Games. Matsko ended the year as the champion in Guangzhou.

Uzbekistan’s Anna Sidorova ran a 2:02.38 and came in second while Li Yong of China came in third.

Men's 800m Race  Report
India's Ghamanda Ram, a middle-distance runner won silver in 800m. He was pipped at the post by Iran's Sadjad Moradi, who clocked 1:50.47 who won gold. Ghamanda clocked 1:50.69. Chinese runner Yang Xiaofei took the bronze in 1:50.84, while Sajeesh Joseph, the second Indian in the race, finished fifth in 1:51.62,

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
