Diamond League in Stockholm from 6th Aug 2010

Men Race

In the 800m Men race Marcin Lewandowski, from Poland, came in first while Michael Rimmer (GBR) and Jackson Mumbwa (Kenya) came in 2nd and third, respectively. The winning time was 1min 45.06sec.

In the 3000m men steeplechase race, it was again a 1, 2 and 3 for the Kenyan as Paul Koech, Silas Kosgei Kitum and Elijah Kipterege took the top 3 positions.  Paul did in a time of 8min 02.18sec. It was a decisive race for Paul as Silas and Elijah were about 10secs away from him.

In the men 5000m, Mark Kosgey Kiptoo from Kenya (12min 53.46sec) and Dijen Gebremeskel from Ethiopia (12min 53.56sec) came in first and second, respectively. Imana Merga from Ethiopia came in third with a time of 12min 53. 58sec. It was a very close fight among the three runners which ended in a neck and neck finish.

Women Race

For the women 5km, Meseret Defar of Ethiopia came in as the champion as she defeated Alemitu by doing a time of 14min 42.46sec. Alemitu Bekele from Turkey gave a very tough challenge to the finish and in the end, lost to Meseret by a body length. Alemitu did a time of 14min 42.56sec.

In the women 1500m, Nancy Jebet Langat ran the race in 4min 00. 70 and defeated Anna Alminova of Russia, who did a time of 4min 01.53sec. Mimi Belete of Burundi came in third with a time of 4min 01.64sec.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).


He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
