An Interview With Team Flexifitness Athlete Jeevaneesh

Team Flexifitness athlete Jeevaneesh was at the start line of the race and it was raining, although it was raining to the point that it was just drizzling. He looked confident but looked reserved as well.

In the year 2011 and 2012, Ashley Liew ran the POSB RUN and came in as the overall champion. As for this year, we did not know who is going to be the champion. We were looking for a surprise champion.

I ran my own race and came in 4th in women open, 48min 15sec, unofficially. The official time will be out in the net soon. Until then, I have to wait for it. That was what Coach Rameshon told me. I was happy with this time.

When I ran my race with women open race 10km, which was concurrently run with men open at 6 45am, I saw Jeevaneesh having a big lead that made his win decisive.

Since Jeevaneesh came in as the champion, we believe that his interview can motivate young athletes in running.

I found out that in 2011, Jeevaneesh was first in National School's Cross-Country Race breaking the cross country record by 20secs. He also came in first in National Schools' Track and Field Championships 2011 in 5000m in 16min 10sec.

An Interview With S. Jeevaneesh.

What was your target that you had set?
1. My target for this race was to run below 37mins. but I was down with flu for the whole week so I decided to run below 38mins instead.

Did you hit your target?
2. I did hit my target of running below 38mins. I'm not sure of the split times because I wasn't wearing a watch.

How do you find your race today?
3. The race was good. I wasn't expecting to come in first actually. I'm glad I manage to run below 38mins despite being down with flu and not really training hard for it.

How do you find that route?
4. The race route was similar to that of SAFRA Army Half - Marathon so I was quite familiar with it.

How was the organisation of the race?
5. The organisation of the race was okay I guess. it was quite messy at the start due to the rain but it turned out alright in the end.

How do you find today's weather?
6. I found the weather very cold and I was worried I will fall sick again. but the conditions were excellent for running I guess especially for those aiming for a personal best.

What is your next goal?
7. My next race will be StanChart Marathon 2013 (Ekiden) in December. I'm planning to take it easy until the end of October before I begin training seriously at the start of November. My target for that race is for my team to do well and hopefully be in the top 3 for that particular event. I would like to thank anyone who has supported me in one way or another during the race and special mention to those from flexifitness as well.
