Mothers Day, Sathiavathi and Brinda
We celebrated "Mother's Day" yesterday. The reason for having this
celebration in our programme is to infuse in our athletes the importance of
parents in supporting the child to take up sports. Studies show that without
parents' grace, one cannot excel in sports.
In Coach Rameshon's life, this has been shown. He told me that his mother was
very supportive of his chosen sports. At first, it was soccer. Later on, it was
cross-country. Ashley Liew's sports was also supported by his parents. That was
the reason why finally he was able to win in last year's Singapore Standard
Chartered Marathon as a local men open winner.
Hence, to commemorate this day, we have in fact celebrated and taken some
photos. Sathiavathy and Brinda helped to take some photos.
Coach Rameshon's wife prepared everything from food and presents on the day
of the celebration. Most of the parents were there to celebrate except for some who
could not make it as they have something to attend to.
We had a 1.2km test where I did a time of 4min 12sec, while Vijayraj did
4min 21sec and with Coach Rameshon doing a time of 4min 23sec. A number of them
did very well. Our parent by the name of Tan Eng Howe did 5min 09sec for the
test. After the run, we had games and then celebrated the day. Finally, Coach
Rameshon was called upon to come to the front to give presents to the parents,
the mothers of course since it was Mother's Day.
We would like to paste some of this photo plus on the Birthday Celebration
that we had on 20th March. We would like to thank her for her contribution to
some nice photos taken during her birthday. Also, yesterday, she showed Coach
Rameshon and his wife the medal that she won in her school's cross -country race.
In secondary one, she came in second and for lower secondary- secondary one and
two - for the overall position she was ranked eighth. This was a good piece of good news. In the past, as
I can remember, she was only able to do 1.5km in 12min plus. Now, she is
capable of doing a 7min flat for the 1.5km.
