Ibrahim Jielan upstages undefeated Mo Farah in 10000m World Champs

10000m Race - Ethiopian Ibrahim Jielan wins the 10000m race. 

Summary of the Race. 

At the 1km, Kenyan Peter Cheruiyot Kirui brought the runners to a slow 2min 57. 10sec. After that Eritrean Zersenay Tadese dominated the 2nd and 3rd km mark in 5min 37sec and 8min 20sec. Over time Paul Kipngethch Tanui of Kenya brought the runners to an 11min 07sec at the 4th km mark. At the 10th lap, Ethiopian had to come out of the race. Later on, Kenyan Peter Cheruiyot Kirui led the runners to a 13min 52sec at the 5km mark. Zersenay Tadese, with resilience, bounced back with a 16min 36sec and 19min 17sec for the 6th and 7th km mark. Subsequently, Imane took control of the run with a 22min 00sec in the 8km mark. At the 9km mark, Kenyan Martin was able to lead temporarily before Ibrahim was able to fight it out and win the race in 27min 13.81sec with Briton Mo Farah inches away with a time of 27min 14.07sec. Mo Farah had a very fine season of not getting defeated in any race. This championship ended with Mo Farah getting the silver.

Rameshon has taught in Hwa Chong Institution, plus several schools, and Republic Polytechnic as well. He has won many accolades and he was awarded Merit Award for 1991 marathon performance in breaking the national record of Singapore, at that time. He has made 22 male athletes do a marathon in sub-3hrs. He has made 7 female runners do sub-4 hours for the marathon, as well. He was inducted to the ‘Roll of Honour’  by the then College of Physical Education, organised by Singapore Olympic Academy, in 1998, for breaking the National record repeatedly 4 times, till he did 2hr 24min 22sec).

He also has a Coaching group and he trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm at Botanic Gardens. Those interested can call him at 91004369 for coaching assistance, to improve performance.
